Patent Information Systems
Block in der vorlesungsfreien Zeit
The course will introduce patents as a knowledge source and familiarize students with search tools llike DEPATISnet and PatentScope. Most of the course will be dedicated to processing and indexing patents with Lucene, an library developed in JAVA. Small programs will be developed for indexing and for powerful search in a patent collection. Students need to have good knowledge of JAVA from the lecture on object oriented programming.

Students need to be present at all sessions to earn credit points. Most of the course consists of practical work and exercises.
